The Philomath High School girls golf team opened its season Monday at the Cascade Classic at Creekside Golf Club in Salem.

Senior Isabelle Muir led Philomath with a two-round total of 122, finishing 19th overall. Junior Annaleise Brown shot 134 to place 25th and senior Marlee Quetschke rounded out the PHS scorers with a 135 for 27th.

Because Philomath did not bring enough golfers to meet the team scoring threshold, the Warriors were not included in the team standings. Salem Academy won the team title with a score of 320, followed by Santiam Christian at 440, Taft at 480, Sweet Home at 500 and Newport at 543.

Philomath’s next competition is scheduled for 11 a.m. April 8 at McNary Golf Club in Keizer. A large field is expected with Amity, Cascade, Harrisburg, Mohawk, Newport, North Marion, Philomath, Salem Academy, Santiam Christian, Siletz Valley, Stayton, Sweet Home, Taft, Waldport and Yamhill-Carlton joining the host school, Blanchet Catholic.
