The Philomath High School swim team fit in an extra meet onto its schedule with an appearance Monday afternoon at a tri-meet hosted by North Marion at Woodburn Aquatic Center.
Coach Iliana Kaiser said illness impacted lineups with quite a few athletes not able to compete.
Philomath’s girls won seven of the eight events that had entries. Senior Kyah Weeber won two individual events with first-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:14.40 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.70. Sophomore Emma Mecham also had two wins in the 50 freestyle in 30.23 and the 100 freestyle in 1:09.00.
Sophomore Kate Burriel had a victory in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:51.76.
Philomath’s two relays had first-place performances. Weeber, senior Kateri Pindell, Burriel and Mecham won the 200 medley relay in 2:15.26. In the 200 freestyle relay, Mecham, Pindell, Burriel and Weeber teamed up for first in 2:03.68.
The boys won seven of the nine events that had entries. Sophomore Lucas Brandt won the 200 individual medley in 2:11.83 and the 50 freestyle in 24.61. Other individual winners were sophomore Wyatt Coen in the 100 butterfly (1:22.73), senior Emmitt Gaskey in the 100 freestyle (1:05.27) and senior Alex Dye in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.88).
The 200 medley relay with junior Mason Stevens, Brandt, Gasket and Dye won in 2:02.92. The 200 freestyle relay took first in 1:53.12 with Gaskey, Stevens, Dye and Brandt.
Team scoring was not available.
Philomath High’s next meet on the schedule occurs Friday at the Junction City Invitational.
