The Philomath School Board will meet for its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the school district office’s conference room.
The meeting agenda indicates an evening of routine business, including discussion of the school district’s 2023-24 and 2024-25 calendars, adoption of the budget calendar and votes on policy updates.
Superintendent of Schools Susan Halliday will give her monthly report to the board, a discussion that typically hits on several issues going on with the district. The board also listens to reports from the financial director, advisory committees, associations/unions and student government.
The board’s consent agenda vote includes personnel moves and of note are two retirements and a resignation. Upcoming retirements include Philomath Elementary Principal Bryan Traylor on June 30 and Philomath Academy Principal Dan Johnson on July 31. The resignation of Philomath Middle School Life Skills teacher Darcy Brons effective Feb. 8 is also included.
Prior to the regular meeting, the School Board also plans to meet in executive session as allowed by state statue to consider employment of an individual, consult with counsel concerning litigation or litigation likely to be filed, and employee performance evaluation purposes. Executive sessions are closed to the public.
The Philomath School District office is located at 1620 Applegate St., with access to the meeting through a door at the back of the building. Meetings are also livestreamed on the school district’s YouTube channel.
