The Philomath School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening with an agenda that includes a public hearing on the 2026-27 fiscal year budget.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. June 18 at the Philomath High School Community Conference Room.

The budget hearing will occur near the beginning of the meeting and include presentations from the business manager and superintendent, board discussion and public comment. Following the hearing, the board will take up two resolutions — one to formally adopt the budget and make appropriations for the fiscal year beginning July 1 — and the other to impose and categorize the district’s property tax levy.

The proposed budget totals $61,351,351 with total appropriations across all funds coming to $57,285,106 and the remaining $4,066,245 designated as unappropriated and reserve amounts.

On the tax side, the district would impose a permanent rate tax of $4.8664 per $1,000 of assessed value and a local option tax of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. Also, $2,215,000 would be levied for general obligation bond debt service, which is excluded from the state’s education funding limitation.

Beyond the budget, the agenda includes a full slate of reports — student services, facilities, superintendent and financial — followed by discussion items that include a review of 2025-26 district objectives with a senior/post-graduate focus, superintendent and board self-evaluations, summer meeting schedules and a student representative to the board.

The board will also consider several action items, including approval of the 2026-28 Oregon School Employees Association bargaining agreement, a declaration of reduction in force and a cross-country co-op agreement with the Alsea School District.

Those wishing to comment during the budget hearing may do so in person by completing a green request card before the meeting begins or by submitting written comment via email to michele.mcrae@philomath.k12.or.us by 3 p.m. Thursday.

Meetings are live streamed on the district’s YouTube channel.
