The Philomath School Board plans to meet Thursday evening for an agenda that includes an Oregon Public Employees Retirement System bond presentation and discussion from Piper Sandler, a financial services company.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Philomath High School Community Conference Room.

Beyond the PERS discussion, several reports will be presented, including association updates, the district’s summer learning program, superintendent’s report and financial report. There will also be a report on English Learners in Oregon.

The board will then move into a string of discussion items, including planning for an upcoming board retreat, superintendent’s evaluation, board self-evaluation and a briefing on two upcoming Oregon School Boards Association gatherings.

A proposed Costa Rica trip for Philomath High School students is also on the agenda. Teachers Alice Eldridge and Andrea Heidinger have proposed the trip for spring vacation 2028. The discussion will be considered under the district’s field trip policy.

Action items include a second reading of board policies and a vote on declaring surplus property.

Meetings are live streamed on the district’s YouTube channel.
