The Philomath School Board filled all of its open budget committee seats Oct. 20 by reappointing two community members and adding a newcomer to the group that will help shape the district’s 2027-28 budget.
The board approved the appointments of Shelly Brown, Kim Lopez and Lisa Miller. Brown and Lopez were completing their terms and asked to continue serving. Miller was the only new applicant.
The school district’s business manager, Jennifer Griffith, said she received just the one application. All three will serve three-year terms that run through June 30, 2029.
Miller, a retired financial analyst and certified public accountant, has lived in the Philomath School District for 25 years.
The board approved the appointments unanimously with no discussion.
The district’s budget committee is made up of the five elected school board members and five community members appointed by the board. Along with Brown, Lopez and Miller, the community members include Matthew Cook and Thom King, whose terms expire June 30, 2028.
To be appointed, budget committee members must live in the school district and be registered voters there. District officers and employees are not eligible to serve.
