The Philomath Samaritan Awards will be presented Wednesday, April 6, in a ceremony that begins at 6:30 p.m. at Philomath High School.

Hosted by the Philomath Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by local businesses and organizations, the event will honor volunteers who have been selected for recognition by their specific organization.

A highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Philomath First Citizen awards to “members of our community that strive to enhance the lives of those around them,” the chamber stated through a news release. Those nominated are judged in the areas of leadership, diversity, longevity, community impact and overcoming adversity.

The chamber will also announce this year’s choices for top business and nonprofit organization.

The awards ceremony is a free event and open to the public. The chamber will be accepting donations at the door for the “Weekend FoodPack Program” that benefits students of Philomath School District. Desserts and beverages will be served.
