A single-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Philomath Boulevard near 71st Street on the west end of Corvallis took the life of 28-year-old Philomath resident Laura Ruhl, the Corvallis Police Department reported.
Lt. Ben Harvey said Corvallis Police were dispatched at around 8:22 a.m. Feb. 17 to the scene of the crash, which was in the 7000 block of Southwest Philomath Boulevard, the area just west of the highway’s intersection with Country Club Drive.
“The vehicle was traveling westbound, veered into oncoming traffic and left the roadway into a ditch, colliding with a tree,” Harvey said. “The sole occupant, a 28-year-old Philomath resident, was found deceased on arrival.”
The Corvallis Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Ruhl was driving a Lexus SUV and left the roadway on the south side, police said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The roadway was closed for a little over three hours.
Ruhl graduated with Philomath High School’s Class of 2013.
The Corvallis Police-Benton County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Team examined the crash site. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with relevant information related to the incident is asked to contact Corvallis Police Ofc. Peter Mason at 541-766-6924.
