The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.
FRIDAY, JUNE 20
• 3 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a man who was aggressive toward an employee at a Main Street business after being told he could not panhandle outside near the entrance. Police were unable to locate the man and would reportedly keep a lookout for him in the coming days.
• 3:01 p.m. — Police responded to a man who was reportedly trespassing at a location at South 19th Street and Applegate Street. The man was gone upon arrival.
• 3:54 p.m. — Police arrested Travis Martin Kent, 36, of Corvallis, on felony charges of strangulation and unlawful use of a weapon, and misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault and menacing, when located at a Philomath business on South 17th Street. Kent’s allegations against him included choking and punching a female victim while being in possession of a knife and threatening harm. He was transported to Benton County Jail and arraigned with bail set at $9,000. A hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 15.
• 7:01 p.m. — Police arrested a 34-year-old Philomath man in the 400 block of North 11th Street on five warrants out of Benton County Circuit Court.
• 11:49 p.m. — Police arrested a 30-year-old Philomath woman on a contempt-of-court warrant in the 1600 block of Northwest Harrison Boulevard in Corvallis.
Other calls: Police responses included an extra patrol at 12:59 p.m. (Deer Creek Way and Chapel Drive), welfare check at 2:48 p.m. (Newton Street), runaway juvenile returned to parents at 4:43 p.m., dog barking at 7:37 p.m. (North 13th Street) and an extra patrol at 10:01 p.m. (North 14th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.
SATURDAY, JUNE 21
• 5:44 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a one-vehicle crash in the 6000 block of Southwest Plymouth Drive east of Philomath. A small, black hatchback hit a mailbox while crashing into a culvert. BCSO cited the man, an 18-year-old Corvallis resident, on a misdemeanor charge of a person under 21 possessing marijuana while operating a motor vehicle.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog found at 8:53 a.m. (Marilyn Drive), civil dispute at 3:18 p.m. (Pioneer Street), abandoned vehicle at 4:13 p.m. (Pioneer Street and Tasman Place), family argument at 4:42 p.m. (North 19th Street) and a fireworks complaint at 7:29 p.m. (South 13th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call in the 5300 block of Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis. PPD reported eight traffic stops.
SUNDAY, JUNE 22
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a civil dispute at 8:22 p.m. (Pioneer Street). PPD reported 17 traffic stops.
MONDAY, JUNE 23
• 2:24 a.m. — Police responded to a report from a caller that believed someone sitting in a vehicle on James Street was drinking alcohol. Police reported seeing a metal water bottle that resembled the shape of a beer bottle.
• 7:56 a.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 1100 block of Main Street involving a table umbrella that was stolen in the early morning hours. The umbrella was valued at $50.
Other calls: Police responses included a mental hold on a suicidal man at 2:30 p.m., traffic hazard at 5:06 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a welfare check at 9:10 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.
TUESDAY, JUNE 24
• 7:31 p.m. — Police responded to the 500 block of South 13th Street for a report of a woman who was run over by a vehicle while it was backing up. Police reported that the vehicle was being moved to another part of a lot and the victim sitting on the ground assumed she could be seen by the driver. The vehicle was a lifted pickup, police said, and the driver was reportedly unable to see her. The incident was determined to be accidental. The victim was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis reportedly with serious injuries. According to a public GoFundMe post, the woman suffered 10 broken ribs, two vertebral fractures, a partially torn carotid artery and severe trauma to her right ear, which required surgical repair and reattachment.
Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 2:50 a.m. (Main Street), abandoned vehicle at 4:42 p.m. (North Seventh Street and College Street), extra patrol at 6:19 p.m. (College Street and Topaz Street) and a report of trespassing at 7:55 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported 11 traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25
• 4:04 p.m. — Police responded to a reported hit-and-run in the 100 block of South Eighth Street, possibly by a contractor that was servicing a parking lot.
Other calls: Police responses included a repossessed vehicle at 6:10 a.m. (South 17th Street), juvenile runaway at 9:15 a.m., suspicious vehicle at 3:05 p.m. (South Ninth Street), suspicious circumstance involving a possible hit vehicle at 5:54 p.m. (Main Street), mental health issue at 6:17 p.m., city ordinance violation at 8:10 p.m. (North 16th Street and Main Street), dog at large at 10:58 p.m. (South 13th Street) and citizen assistance at 11:35 p.m. (Landmark Drive). PPD reported no traffic stops.
THURSDAY, JUNE 26
• 10:49 a.m. — Police took a report of theft involving hedge trimmers that went missing from a property in the 1200 block of North 19th Street.
• 12:14 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft involving the Philomath Lions Club fireworks stand in the Marys Peak True Value parking lot. See separate story.
• 4:18 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft involving a man who entered a business in the 1700 block of Main Street and allegedly stole two items.
• 8:39 p.m. — Police arrested a 47-year-old Corvallis woman in the 1200 block of Pioneer Street on warrants for failure to appear and parole violation. She was transported to Linn County Jail.
Other calls: Police responses included an abandoned vehicle at 1:37 a.m. (James Street and South 30th Street), 911 hangup call (Main Street), dog barking at 8:27 a.m. (Neabeack Hill Drive), dog at large at 9:08 a.m. (Pioneer Street and North Ninth Street), traffic hazard at 11:09 a.m. (North Eighth Street and Main Street), citizen assistance at 2:24 p.m. (North 14th Street), citizen assistance at 3:20 p.m. (Main Street) and a city ordinance violation at 8:07 p.m. (Main Street).
