Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 19

• 8:07 p.m. — Police arrested a 21-year-old Lebanon man in the 300 block of North 15th Street on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a lost dog at 11:26 a.m. (Pioneer Street) and citizen contact at 10:36 p.m. (North 13th Street and Pioneer Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 20

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of reckless driving at 5:21 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 12:25 a.m. (North Eighth Street and Main Street) and 11:32 a.m. (Highway 20 near Blodgett). PPD reported six traffic stops.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 21

• 1:48 a.m. — Police arrested an 18-year-old Salem man in the 1300 block of Main Street on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs). The man, who was also cited for minor in possession of alcohol, was cited in lieu of custody.

• 2:05 p.m. — Police arrested a 34-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of violating a release agreement during a traffic stop on West Hills Road.

Other calls: Police responses included a curfew violation at 1:21 a.m. (South 19th Street and Chapel Drive), repossessed vehicle at 7:40 a.m. (Main Street), dog at large at 10:54 a.m. (College Street and North 15th Street), parking complaint at 7:36 p.m. (Pioneer Street and Seventh Street) and a report of an argument at 9:15 p.m. (South 16th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:07 a.m. (Kings Valley Highway in Wren). PPD reported four traffic stops.

MONDAY, SEPT. 22

• 9:28 a.m. — Police cited a 15-year-old girl at Philomath High School on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol after staff found five mini bottles of alcohol in a backpack. The juvenile was referred to the Benton County Juvenile Department and released to her mother. 

• 1:41 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a wallet with $2,700 in cash that had been left inside of a bathroom at a gas station on Main Street but could not initially be found by employees. The wallet with the cash was reportedly turned in, however, and returned to the woman.

• 8:08 p.m. — Police responded to a report of two teenagers prowling cars in the vicinity of Applegate Street and South 29th Place. The responding officer was not able to locate the suspects.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 3:59 a.m. (Applegate Street), city ordinance violation at 8:56 a.m. (College Street), citizen contact at 11:58 a.m. (North 14th Street), parking complaint at 3:32 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 11th Street) and an incident involving a child damaging a windshield (South 16th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 23

• 3:14 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a possible counterfeit $100 bill that had been passed at a business. The responding officer said the bill appeared to be genuine.

Other calls: PPD reported three traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 24

• 8:55 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run incident in the 100 block of North 14th Street involving a parked vehicle that was reportedly hit by an unknown van.

• 9:05 a.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Main Street involving an unknown male who reportedly took $60 of unpaid merchandise.

• 11:15 a.m. — Police arrested a 47-year-old Corvallis man in the 25000 block of Grange Hall Road on a warrant out of Clackamas County.

• 2:08 p.m. — Police responded to a report of threats being made in the 1800 block of College Street. Police contacted a male and advised him to refrain from confronting his neighbor.

• 2:14 p.m. — Police arrested a 35-year-old Lebanon man in the 200 block of South 23rd Street on a warrant out of Benton County.

• 11:16 p.m. — Police responded to a report at the Galaxie Motel of a guest who checked in with an excessive number of dogs and was refusing to leave. The responding officer spoke to the guest, who eventually agreed to leave and find a different hotel.

Other calls: Police responses included a verbal argument at 2:38 p.m. (North 16th Street), suspicious circumstance at 4:12 p.m. (Newton Street) and motorist assistance at 4:49 p.m. (Main Street and Inspiration Way). PPD reported three traffic stops.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 25

• 1:03 a.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a warrant arrest involving a 22-year-old Albany woman during a traffic stop on Chapel Drive and Bellfountain Road.

• 6:08 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup at Fern Road and Wonderly Lane. The motorcyclist was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Other calls: Police responses included a civil dispute at 2:14 p.m. (South 10th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 1:03 a.m. (Chapel Drive and Bellfountain Drive) and 5:36 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.
