The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MAY 9

• 4:26 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 1700 block of College Street involving a $20 counterfeit bill that was used to pay for an item at a garage sale. Police confirmed with Oregon State Credit Union that the currency was counterfeit.

Other calls: Police assisted on a medical call at 1:29 a.m. (North 14th Street). PPD reported nine traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MAY 10

• 11:06 a.m. — Police responded to a resident on North 11th Street that was concerned about a neighbor cutting down trees that could have disrupted the visual buffer from nearby houses. The neighbors talked and police were asked to disregard the complaint.

• 9:34 p.m. — Police arrested a 63-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol .20 or above) during a traffic stop at North 14th Street and Main Street. The man was transported to Benton County Jail.

Other calls: Police responses included a dog at large at 2:25 p.m. (South 13th Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MAY 11

• 3:28 p.m. — Police arrested a 45-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol .15 through .19) during a traffic stop at South 14th Street and Applegate Street.

Other calls: Police responses included unsecured premises at 5:40 p.m. (North 20th Street and College Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 10:17 a.m. (North 12th Street). PPD reported nine traffic stops.

MONDAY, MAY 12

• 2:03 p.m. — Police took in a blue bicycle that had been left near a bench for the previous three weeks.

• 2:15 p.m. — Police took in a bicycle that was left near the Philomath Liquor Store.

• 10:16 p.m. — Police arrested a 64-year-old transient from Albany in the 500 block of Canberra Drive on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Multnomah County. He was transported to Benton County Jail.

Other calls: Police responses included an abandoned vehicle at 2:29 p.m. (Adelaide Drive). PPD reported eight traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MAY 13

• 8:08 a.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 600 block of the North 19th Street involving batteries that were stolen from a backhoe and water truck.

Other calls: Police responses included a civil issue at 2:19 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive), welfare check at 3:05 p.m. (Monroe Street), extra patrol at 6:10 p.m. (South 18th Street), parking complaint at 6:37 p.m. (South 19th Street), suicidal subject at 7 p.m. and a suspicious person at 11:31 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 14

• 8:36 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in the 200 block of South 24th Street involving a wallet that had been stolen.

• 11:22 a.m. — Police took in a bicycle that had been found near Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway.

• 12:43 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in the 2000 block of Main Street involving a wallet that had been stolen at some point overnight. The wallet was later found in Corvallis and returned to the victim.

• 4:40 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in the 2400 block of Green Street involving items that were taken and found nearby, including a wallet with the individual’s driver’s license and debit card missing and Nike shoes valued at $120.

• 7:34 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 200 block of North 14th Street involving a local resident who was defrauded over the phone of $4,000 to $5,000.

• 10:26 p.m. — Police responded to a city ordinance violation at Applegate Street and South 15th Street involving transients who were going through trash cans.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a suspicious vehicle at 10:39 a.m. (Newton Street and South 24th Street) and an extra patrol at 9:29 p.m. (Green Street and South 26th Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.

THURSDAY, MAY 15

• 4:23 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in involving a gym bag that had been taken. The bag was later found by another car break-in victim and returned to the owner.

Other calls: Police responses included an extra patrol at 2:51 a.m. (Newton Street and South 26th Street), domestic disturbance at 5:22 p.m. (Main Street) and citizen assistance at 6:04 p.m. (North 20th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
