Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, AUG. 7

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 11:01 a.m. (Main Street) and a welfare check at 12:09 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.

SATURDAY, AUG. 8

• 7:21 p.m. — Police arrested a 68-year-old Alsea man in the 1800 block of Main Street on a charge of violating a no-contact release agreement. The man was transported to Benton County Jail.

Other calls: PPD reported seven traffic stops.

SUNDAY, AUG. 9

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 2:48 a.m. (South 13th Street) and the delivery of an emergency message at 4:27 p.m. (South 18th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

MONDAY, AUG. 10

• 12:43 a.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Alsea Highway about 7 miles south of the Highway 20 intersection.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of alleged threats made via social media at 11:10 a.m. (Chapel Drive), report of a juvenile who threw a rock at a vehicle windshield at 2:02 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive) and a welfare check at 3:07 p.m. (North 15th Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

TUESDAY, AUG. 11

• 1:07 p.m. — Police arrested a 26-year-old Philomath woman on a warrant for failure to appear in court after she turned herself in at the police station.

• 3:32 p.m. — Police responded to a complaint of several abandoned vehicles in the area of Newton Street and South 26th Street. After confirming a city ordinance violation, police tagged the vehicles to be towed.

• 3:36 p.m. — Police responded to a complaint of basketball hoops in the street causing issues for garbage trucks in the area of South 15th Street and Timothy Street.

• 8:45 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a minivan driving up and down the road honking its horn, which was described as an ongoing issue. The responding officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a littering violation involving household items dumped in an area off a sidewalk at 9:51 a.m. (Main Street and South 12th Street) and a debit card left at a business at 9:06 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 12

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: PPD reported nine traffic stops.

THURSDAY, AUG. 13

• 9:41 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance near North Ninth and Pioneer streets. A woman on a morning walk in the 800 block of Pioneer Street told police a large white SUV drove past her and an occupant in the rear passenger seat shot at her with what she believed was a BB or airsoft gun, causing a stinging sensation on her shoulder. She was not injured and could not provide much detail on the vehicle or suspects. An area check with Benton County Sheriff’s deputies did not locate the vehicle.

• 8:40 p.m. — Police arrested a 55-year-old Philomath woman in the 1100 block of Main Street on a warrant out of Albany Municipal Court. The woman was cited and released.

Other calls: Police responses included a 911 test call at 1:31 p.m. (North Seventh Street) and a suicidal subject at 3:54 p.m. PPD reported six traffic stops.
