Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MARCH 13

• 5:08 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a deer that was hit by a vehicle and still alive in the 3100 block of Main Street. The officer was unable to find the deer.

• 10:25 a.m. — Police took a report in the 1900 block of Applegate Street of an electric scooter that was found.

• 8:59 p.m. — Police responded to a neighborhood dispute involving parking spaces at an apartment complex on Maple Street.

• 11:02 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male in the 1100 block of Main Street who was reportedly planning to drive. Officers located the man and arranged safe transportation to his residence.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 11:30 a.m. (Main Street), 911 hang-up call at 2:58 p.m. (Main Street), loud yelling/noise at 8:40 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 23rd Street) and a suicidal subject at 9:04 p.m. PPD reported 19 traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MARCH 14

• 12:18 a.m. — Police arrested a 39-year-old Corvallis man in the 100 block of North 19th Street on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. The man was cited in lieu of custody.

• 5 a.m. — Police responded to a disturbance in the 3000 block of Main Street and a woman who was involved in the incident was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Corvallis.

• 9:31 a.m. — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Main Street. No injuries were reported.

• 10:25 a.m. — Police took a request to perform a welfare check on a man in the 200 block of North Ninth Street. Police reported that the “male actually lives in Norway.”

• 4:14 p.m. — Police responded to a traffic hazard at Main Street and South 21st Street. Police assisted an intoxicated woman who was trying to find her way to Corvallis by walking.

• 7:45 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a man sleeping inside a laundromat on North 14th Street. The man left the premises.

Other calls: PPD reported 12 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MARCH 15

• 4:10 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of North 11th Street involving a man and his adult daughter. The man said he would leave the area and apologized for causing any problems.

• 5:38 p.m. — Police arrested a 55-year-old Philomath woman on a warrant in the 1800 block of Main Street. The woman was cited and released.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 1:16 p.m. (Main Street) and a report of a suspicious person at 11:12 p.m. (North 11th Street). PPD reported 13 traffic stops.

MONDAY, MARCH 16

• 7:39 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a homeless man who was sleeping in front of Philomath Elementary School. The man was asked to move along.

• 8:26 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the 600 block of North 11th Street. According to a report, a man slept in the vehicle overnight and he was advised about designated places to park and sleep.

• 9:16 a.m. — Police took into its possession drugs and drug paraphernalia found by a woman and brought to the station. The items were submitted as evidence for destruction.

• 9:26 a.m. — Police responded to a report of third-degree theft on Newton Street involving a resident who said the household’s garbage can went missing after it was set out for pickup. Republic Services required a police report for the resident to receive a replacement.

Other calls: Police responses included an extra patrol at 10:25 a.m. (Pioneer Street and Tasman Place), parking complaint at 11:57 a.m. (Jeffery Place) and a report of a suspicious vehicle at 8:42 p.m. (College Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 1:28 a.m. (address not reported). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MARCH 17

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a driving complaint at 7:49 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 5:52 p.m. (North Ninth Street and Main Street). PPD reported 17 traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a juvenile complaint at 11:42 a.m. (Newton Street), 911 hang-up call at 12:01 p.m. (Chapel Drive), welfare check at 12:31 p.m. (Main Street), non-911 issue at 1:58 p.m. (Main Street) and a dispute between neighbors at 5:11 p.m. (Cooper Lane). In addition, police assisted another agency at 7:28 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive). PPD reported seven traffic stops.

THURSDAY, MARCH 19

• 8:30 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an injured deer on the side of the road at North 19th Street and West Hills Road.

• 1:22 p.m. — Police responded to a report of five men “wearing turbans, sheathed swords and knives” who were seen going into Mobil gas station at North 19th Street and Main Street. The men told an employee that they were relatives visiting while they traveled.

• 8:32 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a 17-year-old juvenile who was allegedly menaced by an adult male with a knife at McDonald’s. Both left the restaurant prior to police being notified about the incident. A “very good description” of the individual and his vehicle led police to find the suspect in Corvallis where a 23-year-old Corvallis man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of menacing with intimidation/threat.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 11:17 p.m. (North 12th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 12:29 a.m. (Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis). PPD reported five traffic stops.
