Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.
FRIDAY, JAN. 30
• 1:26 a.m. — Police contacted an individual on foot in the 500 block of Main Street and provided the person with courtesy transportation to their destination.
• 7:13 a.m. — Police conducted a death investigation of an elderly woman in the 1200 block of North 19th Street. Nothing suspicious was found.
• 2:25 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 1200 block of North 19th Street involving a resident who provided information to a caller who identified themselves as from a wireless cellphone carrier and later noticed multiple charges on a credit card.
• 4:15 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a building at the corner of Applegate Street and South 13th Street. The driver, an 82-year-old Philomath man, was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. A preliminary investigation determined that the driver had experienced a medical emergency that led to the crash. See separate story.
Other calls: Police responses included a complaint of a vehicle blocking an alley entrance at 4:43 p.m. (South 10th Street) and a noise disturbance at 9:52 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.
SATURDAY, JAN. 31
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included an allegation of child abuse at 12:03 p.m. (police determined no crime had taken place), juvenile breaking items in a residence at 1:04 p.m. (Newton Street), dog found at 2:23 p.m. (Applegate Street), noise disturbance at 10:31 p.m. (Newton Street) and an update on previous noise disturbance at 11:53 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
SUNDAY, FEB. 1
• 1:07 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 20 on the western edge of Benton County east of Burnt Woods. The car reportedly hit a tree. No injuries were reported.
• 6:47 p.m. — Police responded to a report of trespassing at a residence in the 600 block of Main Street. Police determined that the individual believed to have been in the residence had not been inside.
• 8:42 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash of a Chevrolet Equinox into a creek off Highway 20 about 2 miles west of Philomath. Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene, which involved the driver, a 48-year-old Albany man, leaving on foot. The man was later found hiding near the creek and arrested by BCSO on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
• 9:46 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 1700 block of Main Street. According to the media log, a vehicle hit another vehicle in a parking lot sometime during a four-hour period.

MONDAY, FEB. 2
• 2:36 p.m. — Police responded to a report of trespassing at a residence on South Seventh Street with the suspect apparently at a bus shelter. Police were unable to locate the suspect.
• 8:07 p.m. — Police arrested a 43-year-old Corvallis man on a warrant out of Benton County Circuit Court during a traffic stop at Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest 53rd Street. The man was issued a criminal citation in lieu of custody.
Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 1:50 p.m. (Jeffery Place). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 1:52 p.m. (South 21st Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
TUESDAY, FEB. 3
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of a dog at large at 9 a.m. (South 23rd Street) and a bicycle found at 8:20 p.m. (South 23rd Street). In addition, police assisted another agency at 2:39 p.m. (North 17th Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 4
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 3:03 p.m. (Main Street), report of a lost cat at 6:13 p.m. (South 14th Street) and citizen contact at 10:44 p.m. (Main Street and South 24th Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.
THURSDAY, FEB. 5
• 2:17 a.m. — Police arrested a 40-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of harassment during a response to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of North Ninth Street. The incident occurred during a verbal argument, police said. No injuries were reported and no medical attention was needed. The man was cited in lieu of custody.
Other calls: Police responses included a deceased cat at 11:25 a.m. (College Street), extra patrol at 12:10 p.m. (College Street) and a traffic hazard at 6:17 p.m. (College Street and North 16th Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on a call at 6:17 a.m. (Highway 34) and 10:59 a.m. (Southwest 53rd Street and Southwest Touchstone Place). PPD reported six traffic stops.
