Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.
FRIDAY, NOV. 7
• 10:03 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a road hazard at North Ninth Street and Quail Glenn Drive involving a construction truck that spilled a large amount of gravel on the roadway. The city’s public works sweeper cleaned up the gravel.
• 11:10 a.m. — Police responded to North Eighth Street and Main Street for a report of phone harassment involving a resident who reported that another individual had been giving out his phone number to telemarketers.
Other calls: Police responses included a repossessed vehicle at 5:37 a.m. (Pioneer Street), dog found at 8:34 a.m. (Quail Glenn Drive), domestic disturbance between an adult couple at 5:43 p.m. (South 19th Street), investigation of a 911 call with nobody on the line (North Eighth Street) and contact with a group of people at 9:46 p.m. (Philomath Community Library). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 8:55 a.m. (South 17th Street) and on a drug recognition expert request at 6:18 p.m. (Sandner Drive, Scio). PPD reported four traffic stops.
SATURDAY, NOV. 8
• 1:29 a.m. — Police responded to a report of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
• 11:31 a.m. — Police responded to the 1400 block of Applegate Street for a report that a local woman’s prescription medication (opioids) had been stolen sometime during the previous week.
Other calls: Police responses included criminal mischief at 7:25 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a noise disturbance at 11:08 p.m. (North Eighth Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 5:54 p.m. (Highway 20, Blodgett). PPD reported no traffic stops.
SUNDAY, NOV. 9
• 2:36 a.m. — Police responded to the 200 block of South 13th Street for a report that a court-issued stalking order had been violated.
• 11:57 a.m. — Police arrested a 24-year-old Salem man during a traffic stop at College Street and North 19th Street on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a criminal citation and on a misdemeanor charge of driving while license suspended.
Other calls: Police responses included possible animal abuse at 2:20 p.m. (North 17th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 4:35 p.m. (Cardwell Hill Drive and Lillian Drive). PPD reported 11 traffic stops.
MONDAY, NOV. 10
• 8:41 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a possible sex crime involving two juveniles.
• 12:47 p.m. — Police responded to Benton View Drive and Neabeack Hill Drive for a report of a man who was reportedly yelling and walking in the road. Police, who had interacted with the same man earlier in the day, warned the individual of a possible disorderly conduct charge.
• 3:50 p.m. — Police responded to the Philomath High School parking lot for a report from a woman who said that the front of her vehicle had been damaged while she was out of town at a competition.
Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 9:44 a.m. (Applegate Street and Vincent Street) and a noise disturbance at 8:38 p.m. (Maple Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 6:14 p.m. (Fern Road and Grange Hall Road) and 6:26 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
TUESDAY, NOV. 11
• 6:02 p.m. — Police assisted with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s arrest of Kevin L. Fry, 54, of Philomath, on a felony warrant out of Lincoln County Circuit Court.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of harassment at 10:31 a.m. (Main Street), suspicious person at 6:28 p.m. (College Street), suspicious vehicle at 7:30 p.m. (Newton Street) and a noise disturbance at 8:17 p.m. (Maple Street). PPD reported seven traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 12
• 8:05 a.m. — Police took a 31-year-old Philomath woman into protective custody. For more on the incident, see separate story.
Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious person at 12:02 a.m. (South Seventh Street) repossessed vehicle at 1:57 a.m. (South 15th Street), welfare check at 12:24 p.m. (North 12th Street), found property at 1:55 p.m. (South 11th Street) and citizen assistance at 3:21 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 3:50 a.m. (Southwest 53rd Street, Corvallis) and noon (Southwest 53rd Street and Southwest Technology Loop). PPD reported one traffic stop.
THURSDAY, NOV. 13
• 2:55 a.m. — Police responded to a report in the 100 block of South 20th Street of a disturbance involving an adult couple.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of a suspicious person near parked vehicles at 12:15 a.m. (North 17th Street and College Street), mental health situation at 2:59 a.m. (North 15th Street), mental health situation at 9:41 a.m. (Applegate Street), extra patrol at 9:56 a.m. (South 23rd Street), threats by a juvenile to another juvenile at 10:15 a.m., juvenile complaint at 11:13 a.m. (Chapel Drive) and a sex offense investigation involving juveniles (unfounded) at 12:10 p.m. PPD reported six traffic stops.
