Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, JUNE 27

• 9:37 a.m. — Police responded to a report of possible criminal mischief involving a nail and a cut in a vehicle’s tire that could be vandalism. The officer was preparing to try to find video surveillance when a tire dealership and repair shop advised that the damage did not appear to be vandalism.

• 5:25 p.m. — Police arrested Isaiah Lemuel Haywood, 37, of Philomath, near the intersection of Main Street and South 17th Street on a felony charge of third-degree robbery and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm following an incident at Philomath Liquor Store. Other calls: Police responses included courtesy transport for an intoxicated 47-year-old man at 4:18 a.m. (South Ninth Street and Applegate Street), concern from a caller about a man walking down the road at 2:02 p.m. (no address provided) and a welfare check involving a severe crash alert from an iPhone but unable to locate at 5:16 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28

• 10:55 a.m. — Police responded to a disturbance in the 2000 block of Applegate Street involving a woman and a juvenile girl. According to the officer’s report, the woman confronted the girl with allegations of previously stealing her mail. During the confrontation, the juvenile reportedly attempted to grab the woman’s phone as she was trying to take a picture and a scuffle ensued. Police later arrested a 68-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of harassment. She was cited and released in lieu of custody.

• 9:43 p.m. — Police arrested a 47-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (undetermined) during a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Applegate Street.

Other calls: PPD reported 11 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, JUNE 29

• 1:13 p.m. — Police responded to a crash in the 1000 block of Applegate Street involving a vehicle that hit an unoccupied parked vehicle. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

• 6:28 p.m. — Police arrested a 59-year-old Albany man on an active warrant for failure to appear on a criminal citation in the 1000 block of Applegate Street. The man was cited in lieu of custody per authorization from Benton County Jail.

• 9:02 p.m. — Police arrested a 51-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of criminal driving while license suspended or revoked during a traffic stop at North 19th Street and College Street.

• 9:58 p.m. — Police responded to a report from a resident in the 1300 block of College Street that an electric golf cart had been stolen. 

Other calls: Police responses included a dog barking at 10:09 a.m. (Cedar Street and South 18th Street), dogs reportedly in a hot vehicle at 11:15 a.m. (Applegate Street and South 11th Street) and a couple yelling at each other at 4:47 p.m. (Philomath City Park). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 5:34 a.m. (Southwest Roseberry Street, Corvallis). PPD reported 26 traffic stops.

MONDAY, JUNE 30

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: PPD reported seven traffic stops.

TUESDAY, JULY 1

• 11:29 a.m. — Police arrested a 48-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of harassment with physical contact or simple assault in the 1200 block of North 19th Street.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 9:21 a.m. (College Street), traffic complaint at 10:45 a.m. (South 11th Street) and a disturbance involving juveniles at 4:51 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2

• 5:56 p.m. — Police arrested a 48-year-old Philomath woman in the 1200 block of North 19th Street on a misdemeanor charge of violating a no-contact release agreement.

Other calls: Police responses included a suicidal subject at 1:49 p.m., civil issue involving a landlord and tenant at 4:25 p.m. (Main Street), suspicious vehicle at 6:15 p.m. (South 16th Street) and citizen assistance at 8:44 p.m. (address not provided). PPD reported two traffic stops.

THURSDAY, JULY 3

• 1:21 p.m. — Police responded to a report of disorderly conduct involving a man at a bus stop who was yelling at cars and punched a mailbox before getting on the bus and leaving the area.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 1:27 p.m. (North 19th Street), parking complaint at 1:44 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive) and a dog at large at 7:48 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
