The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 20-year-old Philomath man operating a motorcycle suffered injuries to his leg during an attempt Monday afternoon to pull him over on Philomath Boulevard.
According to a press release issued by BCSO, deputies were traveling westbound on Philomath Boulevard when they “observed a subject operating a small, unlicensed offroad-style motorcycle, traveling in the same direction in an unsafe manner.”
The deputy attempted to stop the driver “by turning on their emergency lights and siren but the rider attempted to elude the deputy,” according to the release. “In the process of apprehending the suspect, the motorcycle and patrol vehicle collided, resulting in an injury to the suspect.”
The man, who was identified only by his age and city of residence, was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
Deputies said that he was later cited in lieu of custody on a charge of attempting to elude.
At the request of BCSO, the Corvallis Police Department is investigating the crash.
