The Philomath Inclusivity Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Philomath City Hall to discuss several upcoming community events and initiatives, with a focus on National Hispanic Heritage Month activities.
An agenda item involves reviewing banner designs for Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs Sept. 15-Oct. 15. The committee will choose between two banner options provided by City Councilor Diane Crocker that will be displayed on Main Street and Applegate Street during the observance.
The planning group for National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month will provide an update on its efforts. Committee members will also hear an update on a September senior event planned at Philomath Community Library.
The agenda also includes a discussion on the committee’s planned participation at the Aug. 31 Philomath Farmers Market and a review of its action item calendar, which includes various heritage months, awareness campaigns and community observances through the rest of the year.
In addition, Crocker has requested time to add her voice to conversations that occurred during a July meeting that she was not able to attend.
For those not attending in person, the city livestreams meetings on its YouTube channel.
Public comments can be submitted in person, electronically or in writing with written comments due by noon on the day of the meeting.
