The Philomath High School girls tennis team won seven of eight matches in a victory Wednesday over Dallas. The Warriors swept all four singles matches and the top three in doubles.
In doubles, Daniella Carlisle and Phoebe Dodson won at No. 1, Stella Neville and Mia Cook won at No. 2 and Lorelei Schell and Lucie Oster won at No. 3. Lillian Hansen and Logan Cook were competitive in the No. 4 spot but came up short in the closest match of the afternoon.
The singles winners included Bailey Bell, Adele Beckstead, Megan Reese and Elise Reese.
The PHS boys were also winners by a 7-1 margin in a match at Dallas.
The Warriors swept the singles matches with victories by Dawson Beckstead (6-1, 6-2), Andrew Leonard (6-3, 6-3), Jackson Rice (6-0, 6-1) and Owen Thomas (6-0, 6-1).
In doubles, winners for PHS included Gradin Fairbanks and Lane Schell (6-3, 4-6, 6-2), Osvaldo Garcia-Bazan and Jackson Holroyd (6-2, 6-3), and Johnny Pickett and Ethan Aynes (by default).
Philomath’s lone loss occurred at No. 1 doubles in a close match — Teddy Benbow and Sawyer Ainsworth falling 7-6, 6-3.
The teams are scheduled to play doubleheaders Thursday in the Coos Bay area against Marshfield and North Bend.
