The Philomath High School girls tennis team swept North Marion on Wednesday with three of the four singles players winning in straight sets and the top two doubles teams surviving stiff challenges.

In the No. 1 doubles match, senior K Bacho and junior Phoebe Dodson rallied back after losing the first set to take down their opponents, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. In the No. 2 doubles match, sophomores Nadia Durski and Lorelei Schell also dropped their first set but came from behind for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win. Sophomore Abigail Workman and junior Stella Neville teamed up for a win at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Elise Reese and junior Caroline Puckett won at No. 4 doubles, 6-2, 6-2.

Philomath’s top three singles players all won in straight sets with sophomore Bailey Bell at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), freshman Adele Beckstead at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0) and sophomore Daniella Carlisle at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0). Sophomore Megan Reese was challenged at No. 4 singles but she pulled out the victory, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Philomath was scheduled to play Thursday against Stayton but that match was postponed until next Friday. Next week, the Warriors head to Cascade on Tuesday, host Sisters on Wednesday and play at Corvallis on Thursday before the rescheduled match at Stayton on Friday.
