Philomath High School’s boys golf team finished sixth in Saturday’s Marshfield-hosted tournament at Bandon Crossing Golf Course.
Four of the five varsity golfers all finished within two strokes of one another to end up with a team score of 408. Hudson Raab had a little bit of a slow start but finished hard over the final nine holes for a 101. Caleb Russell also shot a 101 and had a 47 at the midway point but he stumbled a little on the back nine.
Silas Pittman and Elijah Bush both shot 103. Pittman was consistent throughout with a 51 on the front nine and 52 on the back. Bush struggled to a 57 on the front but finished strong with a 46 on the back — the team’s best individual nine-hole stretch of the day.
Bandon won the team title with a 334, which was 23 strokes ahead of runner-up South Medford. Individually, Brookings-Harbor senior Lucas Vanderlip shot a 2-under par 70.
Philomath is scheduled to play again Monday with a trip to Diamond Woods Golf Club near Monroe.
