The Philomath High School boys tennis team played a makeup match at South Albany on Friday and came away with a 5-3 victory. The Warriors had an advantage in the doubles matches by winning three of four.
Noah Aynes and Teddy Benbow, playing at No. 1 doubles, took a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Gradin Fairbanks and Mark Grimmer dominated their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Braedon Littrell and Jackson Holroyd came from behind for a close victory, 4-6, 7-6 and 10-6.
In the singles matches, Dylan Bell took a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 and Andrew Leonard was a 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 3. In the No. 1 singles match, South Albany standout Blaine Leichty downed Dawson Beckstead, 6-0, 6-2.
Philomath’s published schedule shows its next match to be played Monday at home against Blanchet Catholic.
