The Philomath High boys soccer team notched its fourth win of the season Thursday night with a 5-1 victory at Sweet Home.
Warriors junior Silas Pittman had a hat trick in the win with the team’s first three goals — two of those in the first half to put Philomath up 2-0 at the break. Pittman scored in the 10th minute unassisted, in the 25th minute with an assist by senior Owen Thomas and in the 47th minute with an assist by senior Austin Hunsaker.
Sophomore Zach Grapoli scored in the 64th to put the Warriors up 4-0, the assist by Pittman on that one. After Sweet Home was able to punch one in, Philomath responded with an unassisted goal by senior Sawyer Ainsworth in the 72nd minute.
David Ellis transferred head coaching duties for the game to assistant Sam Callender.
The Warriors go to 4-5 in the Oregon West Conference and 4-8 overall. The Huskies fall to 1-8 in league play and 1-11-1 overall. Philomath swept the season series over Sweet Home with an 8-2 result in their first meeting on Oct. 3.
The Warriors will next play at home Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. matchup against visiting Stayton. The team’s seniors will be recognized at the game.
