The Philomath City Council plans to meet at 6 p.m. Monday in an executive session at Philomath City Hall.

The meeting’s agenda shows that the council will consult with legal counsel on “current litigation or litigation likely to be filed.” The session is being held under a section of Oregon’s public meetings law that allows governing bodies to meet privately with their attorneys on legal matters.

The agenda does not identify the litigation or the parties involved.

Under Oregon law, the council cannot make any final decisions during an executive session. Any formal action would have to take place after the council returns to open session.

After the closed meeting, the council is scheduled to reconvene in public session and then adjourn. No other business items or public comment period appear on the agenda.
