The Philomath City Council plans to meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for an executive session, the city announced.
Councilors will open with roll call and most likely will then adjourn immediately into the executive session as allowed under state statute for “consultation with legal counsel concerning legal rights and duties regarding current litigation or litigation likely to be filed.”
Executive sessions are closed to the public, limited only to the stated discussion and with no decisions through a vote allowed. A vote could be taken after the council reconvenes in public session afterward and that action is listed as a possibility on the meeting agenda.
Those attending the meeting in person at City Hall will be asked to leave council chambers. If waiting outside, they will be informed when the meeting reconvenes in public session, which is listed on the agenda as 6 p.m.
The open meeting portions of the evening will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
The City Council will not meet on the second Monday this month, which falls on Aug. 14, and instead plans to gather for its regular meeting on Aug. 28.
