The College United Methodist Church will bring back its monthly omelet dinners beginning Friday, Sept. 5 with service from 5-7 p.m.

Volunteers will prepare fresh, made-to-order French omelets in the church’s social hall, choosing from an array of fillings including ham, green onions, bell peppers, jack or cheddar cheese, and mushrooms.

The dinner options include a standard omelet for $8, or guests can upgrade to the deluxe option for $9, which comes with homemade scones and gravy. Children 10 and under can enjoy an omelet dinner for $6 while those wanting just the scones and gravy can order that combination for $7. Every meal comes with fresh fruit, scones and a choice of beverages including coffee, tea, milk, juice or water. Homemade desserts are also available for a small donation.

This community tradition began in the late 1980s as a fundraising effort to help cover parsonage property taxes. The dinners typically occur on the first Friday of each month, with the exception of April when the church hosts a spaghetti dinner instead, and during a summer break in July and August.

The church can be found at 1123 Main St., located adjacent to the Philomath Museum.
