The Philomath Area Chamber of Commerce has become a member of the Oregon Tourism Information System, a statewide database managed by Travel Oregon that shares information about businesses, events and attractions with travelers.
The system, known as OTIS, serves as a central collection point for tourism-related listings, including restaurants, shops, wineries, attractions and events. Information entered into the database can be distributed to Travel Oregon and to the websites of regional tourism partners.
Chamber officials said the membership is intended to increase the visibility of Philomath and its member businesses among visitors to the state.
Businesses and destination organizations can use OTIS at no cost to create and maintain their own public listings.
In an announcement to chamber members, Executive Director Nikki Hasley described the move as part of a broader effort to expand the organization’s reach and create more opportunities to promote its members.
“This partnership gives us another tool to help showcase your businesses, promote local events and encourage visitors to discover everything Philomath has to offer,” Hasley wrote.
