The Philomath High School boys tennis team dominated the singles matches in a 6-2 home victory Wednesday over Molalla.
Junior Dawson Beckstead, senior Dylan Bell, sophomore Andrew Leonard and sophomore Sawyer Ainsworth all posted sweeps and collectively won 24 of 25 games. Beckstead, Bell and Leonard all had wins of 6-0, 6-0, and Ainsworth recorded a victory of 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, senior Noah Aynes and junior Teddy Benbow outlasted their opponents by a 6-4, 6-3 count in the No. 1 slot. Senior Mark Grimmer and sophomore Gradin Fairbanks had the closest match of the day with a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Philomath’s record in duals goes to 5-1.
Philomath returns to action on Monday with a rescheduled home match against North Marion. The two teams had been scheduled to play this past Tuesday but the matchup was called because of rain.
