The Philomath High School boys tennis team won its third straight match to open the season Friday with a home-court victory over 5A Silverton, 7-1.

The Warriors were unchallenged in the singles matches with dominating performances by Andrew Leonard (6-1, 6-1), Sawyer Ainsworth (6-1, 6-2), Jackson Rice (6-1, 6-1) and John Pickett (6-0, 6-0). The four players won 48 of 55 sets against Silverton’s competitors.

The closest match of the day came at No. 1 doubles where Gradin Fairbanks and Lane Schell teamed up to defeat Silverton’s Rodney Dlouhy and Jesse Mallorie, 7-6, 7-6. Winning easily in the No. 2 and No. 3 slots were Ethan Aynes and Owen Thomas (6-1, 6-2) and Osvaldo Garcia-Bazan and Jackson Holroyd (6-0, 6-0).

Philomath is scheduled to play Monday at South Albany.
