The Philomath High School boys golf team wrapped up the Oregon West Conference Championships on Tuesday at Tokatee Golf Club near McKenzie Bridge with a sixth-place finish.
Senior Roman Robins was the top PHS performer in the tournament with a two-day score of 186, which put him in 12th place. Robins shot rounds of 93 on both days.
A pair of freshmen followed with Corbin Black in 25th with a 216 and Conrad Yates in 26th with a 224. Another freshman, Isaiah Hood, had a two-day score of 253, which was 27th overall.
Sophomore Avery Petrovich competed only on Monday, finishing with an 18-hole round of 116. Junior Lane Bettencourt competed Tuesday turned in a score of 127.
Figuring toward the team score total of 865 were Robins, Black, Yates and Petrovich for Day 1 and Hood from Day 2.
Cascade, coached by Jason Haskell, won the team trophy with a 661. Sweet Home, coached by Ron Moore, was second at 694. Both of those teams move on to the state tournament.
Individually, Cascade junior Grant Hemelstrand won with a two-day total of 158, which was 14 over par. Sweet Home junior Trent Harvey finished strong for second with a 163.
The 4A state tournament is scheduled for May 18-19 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.
