Bell, a sophomore forward at Whitman College and the daughter of Steve and Molly Bell of Philomath, earned the honor after scoring five goals in two games over the weekend of Aug. 30-31.

The standout performance included two second-half goals against NAIA No. 3 College of Idaho, helping the Blues nearly overcome a three-goal deficit. Bell followed that up with a dominant first-half showing against Evergreen State College, netting three goals in what became a 5-0 victory for Whitman.

In addition to her soccer accomplishments, Bell also competes on Whitman’s tennis team.

Whitman is currently 1-1-2 and is scheduled to play Saturday at home against Pacific University. The Blues will play games that are somewhat close to Philomath on Sept. 27 vs. Linfield in McMinnville and on Oct. 18 at Willamette in Salem.

Bell was one of two Northwest Conference players honored for that week with Puget Sound goalkeeper Gianna Maldonado earning the defensive award after recording 11 saves and a shutout during the Loggers’ trip to Texas.
