Philomath Fire and Rescue reminds the public that permits are currently required for all burning, which includes all recreational and backyard burning. In addition, daily burn times from the Department of Environmental Quality must be followed.

According to Philomath Fire and Rescue’s burn information page, backyard or open burning is open through Dec. 15 and will then be closed until next spring. Recreational fire permits are available through Dec. 31.

Burn permit requests can be made online through the agency’s website or by calling 541-360-0030 (weekdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.). There is no charge for a burn permit.

The fire district’s burn information page publishes up-to-date information, including the most recent DEQ burn times, and provides important details, links and definitions.
