Oregon State Police is investigating the illegal shooting of a doe deer on private property near Monroe in Benton County last weekend and is asking anyone with information to come forward.

According to OSP, the deer was shot at approximately 3 a.m. on Sept. 13 near the intersection of Alpine Road and Foster Road. The animal was left to waste.

Investigators believe the suspect or suspects were traveling in a full-size pickup truck with a loud exhaust. Witnesses reported the vehicle heading eastbound on Alpine Road shortly after the shooting.

Troopers recovered a .30-30 caliber shell casing from the roadway near the scene during their investigation.

OSP’s Fish and Wildlife Division is asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or who has information about the vehicle or those involved, to contact the Turn In Poachers (TIP) hotline at 1-800-452-7888 or dial *OSP (*677) from a mobile phone. Tips can be submitted anonymously. Anyone providing information is asked to reference case number SP26-300293.
