SATURDAY, FEB. 22

• 10:49 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 101 near Brookings that took the life of William Donald Zehdner, 63, of Brookings. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 37-year-old Crescent City, California, man was driving north in a Ford F150 and struck Zehdner, who was walking in the lane of travel. Zehdner was transported to a hospital where he was declared deceased. The Ford’s driver was reportedly not injured.

SUNDAY, FEB. 23

• 8:28 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 99 north of Creswell that took the life of Gary Dale Obert, 54, of Eugene. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 18-year-old Creswell woman was driving south in an Acura MDX and struck Obert, who was walking in the roadway. Obert was declared deceased at the scene. The driver and a passenger, a 17-year-old boy, were reportedly not injured.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 26

• 4:58 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 138W east of Roseburg that took the life of Carl Gregory Miller, 38, of Eagle Point. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Miller was driving east in a Ford Escape when he veered into the westbound lane and struck head-on a semi-truck operated by a 34-year-old Sisters man. The Ford Escape burst into flames on impact. Motorists at the scene extricated Miller from the burning vehicle, He was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was reportedly not injured. OSP reported that fatigue was believed to have been a possible factor in the crash.
