SUNDAY, DEC. 8

• 7:13 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22 just outside Stayton that took the life of Jeremoe Francis Hurley, 45, of Camarillo, California. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Hurley was driving east in a Dodge Challenger when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Hurley, the vehicle’s lone occupant, was transported to a medical facility in the area where he was declared deceased.

• 10:09 a.m. — Troopers responded to a semitruck that hit two pedestrians on Interstate 84 in Pendleton, taking the lives of John Charles Harrington, 25, and Marcus Anthony Paul, 24, both of Pendleton. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 59-year-old Vancouver, Washington, man was driving west on I-84 in a semitruck and for unknown reasons left the slow lane and struck the guardrail and the two pedestrians before traveling down a steep embankment and rolling onto its side. Harrington and Paul were both declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

MONDAY, DEC. 9

• 5:11 p.m. — Troopers responded to a semitruck-pedestrian crash on Interstate 84 in Hood River that took the life of Michael Joseph Sampson, 38, of Hood River. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Sampson was reportedly running east on the westbound on-ramp and entered the interstate where he was struck by a westbound semi-truck driven by a 62-year-old Kelso, Washington, man. Sampson was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
