WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15
• 9:23 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 281 near milepost 7 in Hood River County that took the life of Phillip Mickey Himes, 37, of Hood River. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound Subaru Impreza driven by Pedro Jonathan Flores-Flores, 26, of Hood River, attempted to pass another southbound vehicle in a no passing zone and struck Himes’ northbound Honda VT750 motorcycle head-on. Himes was declared deceased at the scene. Flores-Flores was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, reckless endangering and first-degree manslaughter.
FRIDAY, OCT. 17
• 4:45 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near milepost 23 in Linn County that took the life of Jeremy Wayne Smith, 46, of Lebanon. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Subaru Outback driven by a 19-year-old woman from Longmont, Colorado, was attempting to turn from Liberty Road westbound onto Highway 20 when it entered the path of Smith’s eastbound Harley Davidson Road King, causing a side-impact collision. Smith was declared deceased at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, a 45-year-old Lebanon woman, and the Subaru’s driver were seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. A passenger in the Subaru, an 18-year-old Winston woman, was reportedly not injured.
SATURDAY, OCT. 18
• 11:34 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 224 near milepost 15 in Clackamas County that took the life of Candida Rodriguez, 51, of Gresham. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Rodriguez was attempting to turn from SE Amisigger Road eastbound onto Highway 224 in a Toyota Corolla when it entered the path of a westbound Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 59-year-old Portland man, causing a side-impact collision. Rodriguez was declared deceased at the scene. Two passengers in the Toyota, a 32-year-old Portland man and a 13-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
• 11:40 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 234 in Linn County that took the life of Joshua David Moore, 42, of Springfield. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Moore was riding a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control while slowing for traffic and laid down his motorcycle in the lane of travel. Another northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by a 60-year-old Eugene man was unable to avoid a collision and struck Moore. Moore was declared deceased after being transported to an area hospital.
• 2:44 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-bicycle crash on Highway 140 near milepost 4 in Jackson County that took the life of Wesley Mad Olngellel, 37, of Central Point. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound Freightliner recreational vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Central Point man struck Olngellel, who was riding in the eastbound lane of travel. Olngellel was declared deceased at the scene. The Central Point man was reportedly not injured.
MONDAY, OCT. 20
• 4:30 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near milepost 144 in Harney County that took the life of James Joseph Hammeke, 91, of Burns. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Hammeke was entering the highway from Rattlesnake Road in a Chevrolet Tahoe when it was struck by a westbound Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer driven by a 45-year-old Oregon City man. The Freightliner struck the driver side door and front fender of the Chevrolet causing significant damage. Hammeke was declared deceased after being transported to an area hospital. The Freightliner’s driver was reportedly not injured.
TUESDAY, OCT. 21
• 11:29 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-skateboarder crash on Highway 101 near milepost 121 in Lincoln County that took the life of Joseph Wesley Tallman, 35, of Depoe Bay. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Tallman attempted to cross the highway from the eastbound shoulder on a skateboard and was struck by a northbound Mack commercial motor vehicle driven by a 35-year-old Veneta man who was unable to avoid the collision. Tallman was declared deceased after being transported to an area hospital. The truck driver was reportedly not injured.
