FRIDAY, JUNE 19
• 12:05 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 126 near Redmond that took the life of Michelle Renee Pettit, 59, of Gilchrist. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound GMC Sierra pulling a tandem axle dump trailer driven by a 26-year-old Bend man attempted to avoid slowing traffic and crossed into the eastbound travel lane. A gray Honda Accord driven by a 58-year-old Gilchrist man collided head-on with the dump trailer. Pettit, a passenger in the Honda, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Honda’s driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The truck’s driver was not injured, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
MONDAY, JUNE 22
• 10:07 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 97 near Chemult in Klamath County that took the life of Scott Henry Beggio, 67, of Klamath Falls. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound semitruck driven by a 44-year-old Vicksburg, Mississippi, man struck Beggio, who was standing in the southbound lane of travel. Beggio is believed to have been in the roadway attempting to catch his dog, which had run into the road. Beggio was pronounced deceased at the scene. The truck’s driver was not injured.
