WEDNESDAY, JAN. 8
• 8:40 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22E just east of Niagara in Marion County that took the life of John H. Lambert, 60, of Salem. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Lambert was driving a Chevrolet Silverado east on the highway when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, went down an embankment, struck a stump and rolled. Lambert was declared deceased at the scene. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
THURSDAY, JAN. 9
• 11:59 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 97 about 6 miles northeast of Madras that took the life of Keanu Rhune Blumenthal, 21, of Carson City, Nevada. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Blumenthal was crossing the highway when he was struck by a semi-truck operated by a 65-year-old The Dalles man. Blumenthal was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
