FRIDAY, MAY 10
• 10:10 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Brightwood that took the life of Norman Ralph Lawrence Markham, 59, of Sandy. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Mazda sedan driven by a 57-year-old Eagle Creek man had missed a turn off Highway 26 and was turning around in a driveway. As the driver returned to the highway, a westbound Honda motorcycle operated by Markham crashed into the rear driver side of the sedan. Markham was thrown from the motorcycle, struck by another vehicle prior to law enforcement’s arrival and died at the scene.
SATURDAY, MAY 11
• 2:02 p.m. — Troopers responded to a motorcycle crash on Highway 207 about 6 miles north of Mitchell that took the life of Tanay Marie Ann Herrold, 44, of Oregon City. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Harley Davidson operated by a 42-year-old Oregon City man was leading a group of motorcycles north on Highway 207 when he veered onto a gravel shoulder, lost control and crashed. Both were both thrown from the motorcycle. The operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Herrold died at the scene. A second motorcycle operated by a 50-year-old Vancouver, Washington, man also veered onto the gravel shoulder and went down. He was not injured. Traveling too fast for conditions was reported as a contributing factor to the crash.
• 2:54 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Highway 213 about 2 miles south of Mulino that took the life of Steven Andrew Boyles, 38, of Oregon City. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Yamaha motorcycle operated by Boyles was traveling north on Highway 213 when he lost control for unknown reasons and left the roadway off the northbound shoulder. He was declared deceased at the scene.
MONDAY, MAY 13
• 4:35 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 10 miles south of Coos Bay that took the life of Tracy Martin Goforth, 63, of Gold Beach. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Nissan Frontier driven by Goforth headed north on Highway 101 crossed into the southbound lane for unknown reasons and struck head-on a Toyota Prius driven by a 76-year-old Bandon man. The Nissan came to rest in the northbound lane while the Prius spun in the southbound lane was struck a Toyota Venza driven by a 70-year-old Bandon man nearly head-on. Goforth was declared deceased at a local hospital. The driver of the Prius and a passenger, a 73-year-old Bandon woman, and the driver of the Venza and a passenger, a 69-year-old Bandon woman, were all transported to a hospital with injuries.
TUESDAY, MAY 14
• 2:13 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 126 just east of Florence that took the life of Reania Danielle Horath, 30, of Myrtle Creek. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Toyota Rav4 driven by a 46-year-old Myrtle Creek woman was heading west on Highway 126 when it crossed into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons and struck head-on a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 52-year-old Eugene woman. Horath, a passenger in the Toyota, was declared deceased at the scene. The Toyota’s driver and two passengers, a 34-year-old Myrtle Creek man and a female juvenile were transported to a local hospital with injuries. The Chevrolet’s driver and a passenger, a 25-year-old Eugene woman, were also transported to a hospital with injuries.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15
• 10:23 a.m. — Troopers responded to a motorcycle-log truck crash on Highway 66 about 11 miles south and east of Ashland that took the life of George Henry Macomber, 66, of Klamath Falls. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Harley Davidson operated by Macomber was headed west on Highway 66 when it crossed the double yellow line for unknown reasons and struck head-on an eastbound Kenworth log truck driven by a 44-year-old Cave Junction man. Macomber was transported to a local hospital and declared deceased. The log truck driver was not injured.
