FRIDAY, APRIL 19
• 7:58 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 about six miles north of Oakland that took the life of Paul William Jordison, 23, of Rochester, Washington. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound Jaguar F-Pace, operated by Jordison, veered off the right-hand shoulder for unknown reasons. The vehicle left the roadway, went airborne for approximately 100 feet down an embankment and struck a tree approximately 15 feet above the ground level before falling to the base of the tree. Jordison was pronounced deceased at the scene. Before the crash, the Jaguar was reportedly driving at high speeds, OSP reported.
MONDAY, APRIL 22
• 5:39 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 within the Newport city limits that took the life of Heidi Fay Rock, 74, of Waldport. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Rock was headed south on Highway 101 when it crossed the middle line into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and collided with a Honda Odyssey driven by a 38-year-old Newport woman. Rock was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Honda and two child passengers, ages 6 and 4 months, were transported to the hospital reportedly with minor injuries.
TUESDAY, APRIL 23
• 4:25 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 about 11 miles west of Vale that took the life of a 17-year-old boy. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by a 22-year-old Redmond man was headed east when it entered the westbound lane to pass a commercial motor vehicle. A Ford Maverick driven by the 17-year-old was headed west and swerved onto the shoulder to try to avoid a collision. However, the Chevrolet also swerved onto the westbound shoulder and collided with the Maverick. The teen was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 13-year-old girl, a passenger in the Maverick, was transported via helicopter to an area hospital with reportedly serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet had minor injuries and was not transported for medical care.
