THURSDAY, FEB. 6

• 6:44 pa.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 north of Wilsonville that took the life of  Aleksandr Vasilevich Yevtushok, 57, of Boring. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Yevtushok was driving a Toyota Tundra south on I-5 when he rear-ended a semi-truck operated by a 55-year-old Salem man. Yevtushok was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and later died. The truck driver was not injured.

TUESDAY, FEB. 11

• 12:39 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 22 about 9 miles west of Detroit in Marion County that took the life of Phillip Craig Tramontana, 72, of Idanha. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Tramontana was driving west in a Ford Ranger and attempted to pass several vehicles in the eastbound lane. He was unable to return to the westbound lane before reaching a Subaru Outback, driven by a 20-year-old Logan, Utah, man. Both vehicles swerved into a gravel area on the south side of the highway and collided head-on. Tramontana was declared deceased at the scene. The Subaru’s driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

• 2:22 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 395 near Hermiston that took the life of Hector Singleterry, 62, of Hermiston. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Singleterry was driving south in a Ford Ranger when the vehicle gradually crossed a special turn lane and into the northbound travel lanes before going off the highway and collided with an unoccupied Chevrolet Express van, which was forced into a parked Chevrolet Cobalt with two occupants. Investigators believe Singleterry experienced a medical emergency while driving. CPR was attempted without success and he was declared deceased at the scene. The Cobalt’s occupants were not injured.

• 3:15 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Randy Papé Beltline near the Highway 99 off-ramp in Eugene that took the life of Jose Maria Perez Mata, 35, of Eugene. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Perez Mata was driving east in a Toyota Tundra and failed to negotiate the Highway 99 off-ramp. The vehicle made a sudden turning maneuver, which caused the vehicle to cross the off-ramp and roll over, coming to rest on the roadway. Perez Mata was declared deceased at the scene.
