THURSDAY, JULY 11

• 9:53 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 221 about 9 miles south of Dayton that took the life of Zakary Ross Nasby, 26, of Newberg. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Nasby was driving north on Highway 221 when his vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and overcorrected across the roadway. The vehicle left the highway and struck a tree. Nasby was declared deceased at the scene. OSP said it appeared that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

SATURDAY, JULY 13

• 7:22 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 62 and Sun Mountain Road about 9 miles north of Chiloquin that took the life of Tina Marie Wickliffe, 53, of Chiloquin. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Chiloquin was driving a Ford Expedition south on Sun Mountain Road at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop at the intersection with Highway 62. The vehicle went through the intersection and struck an embankment on the opposite side of the highway. Wickliffe was declared deceased at the scene. OSP said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

SUNDAY, JULY 14

• 11:40 pm. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 2 miles north of Orford that took the lives of James Franklin Mickelson, 36, of Sixes; Joseph Frances Kurka, 20, of Sixes; and Dereck Eugene Stroop, 35, of Port Orford. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Mickelson was headed south in a Ford F250 on Highway 101 when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway. The truck traveled approximately 400 feet through a field and struck a tree, which led to the vehicle to become engulfed in flames. Mickelson, the driver, and Kurka and Stroop, passengers, were all declared deceased at the scene.

MONDAY, JULY 15

• 11:51 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 34 about 4 miles west of Corvallis that took the life of Gemini Uvon Soules, 21, of Albany. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Soules was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe east on Highway 34 and crossed into the westbound lanes and struck head-on a Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 51-year-old Silverton man. Soules was declared deceased at the scene. Koehler was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

THURSDAY, JULY 18

• 12:45 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 about 8 miles east of Cascade Locks that took the life of Geraldean Edna Martin, 55, of Portland. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 42-year-old Benton City, Washington, woman was driving an ambulance with a medic and patient on board west on I-84 and struck a Chevrolet Camaro that was disabled on the side of the roadway with a flat tire. Martin was outside of the vehicle at the time of the collision. Martin was declared deceased at the scene. The ambulance driver and passengers, a 28-year-old Pasco, Washington, woman and a 23-year-old Pendleton man, were not injured.
