Oregon State University is preparing to celebrate its largest-ever graduating class on Saturday with 8,011 students set to receive degrees during the university’s 156th commencement ceremony at Reser Stadium.
The milestone graduation will see more than 4,300 students participating in the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m. and is free and open to the public. Gates open at 9 a.m., with no tickets required for attendance. The university plans to hold the event regardless of weather conditions.
The 8,011 graduates will collectively receive 8,257 degrees, with 240 students earning two degrees and three students receiving three degrees.
New York Times opinion columnist and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof will deliver the commencement address.
The ceremony will be available via livestream in both English and Spanish starting at 10 a.m. on the university’s commencement website.
Saturday’s university-wide ceremony will honor graduates from all OSU programs, including those from OSU Ecampus and OSU-Cascades. A separate commencement ceremony specifically for OSU-Cascades graduates will take place in Bend on Sunday, though Cascades students are welcome to attend both events.
