It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Liz” Ann McGovern, a loving wife, devoted mother and cherished friend, who left us unexpectedly after a brief illness at the age of 44.

Born on March 4, 1981, to Wes and April Lashbrook, Liz brought light, joy and compassion to all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of Justin McGovern and the proud mother of Joseph McGovern and Benjamin McGovern. As a mother, she gave her children an appreciation for hard work, community and a love for nature. Liz had a deep love for reading and gardening. She devoted much of her life to her community through her work for OSU’s extension programs, which included her love for 4-H.
She was always ready with a quick quip and a gentle laugh, and her selflessness and kindness were evident in every interaction with her family and the people she influenced. She had an uncanny ability to brighten a room with her presence, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met. She was known for her unwavering strength, her gentle heart and her ability to make those around her feel loved.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, children, parents, siblings and countless friends, all of whom will deeply miss her warmth, humor and boundless love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service for Liz’s will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025, at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in Corvallis, Oregon at 1 p.m., with a celebration of life to immediately follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help them through this difficult time. A GoFund page for her family is online at gofund.me/c094473d.
Though her time with us was far too short, the impact she made will never be forgotten.
