VOLUME 7, NUMBER 148
Thursday, July 9, 2026

Good morning, Philomath.

Christine Drazan, the Republican candidate for governor, made a stop in Philomath a few days ago and I was able to ask a few questions about her second run for the office. The latest BCSO Log provides a rundown of recent arrests and incidents. A couple of bridges in a rural part of the county were closed after inspections. From our partner content, Oregon Journalism Project has a piece on the state’s under-financed insurance fund and a massive payout involving the estates of prisoners who died in custody during the pandemic.

Oh, and for those who read the police services fee story yesterday, I had received some inaccurate information that later needed to be corrected — there will be no formal public hearing on the ordinance at Monday’s council meeting but for anyone who wants to share their views can do so during public comments. — Brad Fuqua, Publisher/Editor
