The Philomath Museum has scheduled another docent-led tour of its “Centuries of Celebration” exhibit for Wednesday, Nov. 18.
The free tour begins at 2 p.m. It is the latest in a series of guided tours the museum has offered this fall. Registration is requested.
The exhibit looks at how Americans have marked the nation’s major anniversaries from the 1876 Centennial through the 1976 Bicentennial. It brings together artifacts, memorabilia and cultural symbols from both celebrations, and it shows how each one reflected the values and outlook of its era.
Items on display include a Revolutionary War-era drum, antique hand-stitched American flags and souvenir calendars made for the bicentennial.
“Centuries of Celebration” opened April 25. It ties in with the 250th anniversary of the United States and remains on display through Jan. 2.
The tour takes place indoors at the museum. Groups or classrooms that want to arrange a private tour can email education@bentoncountymuseums.org.
The Philomath Museum’s regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
