Benton Resident Dead — Wilford Mosley Short, resident of Wren since August, 1926, died in Corvallis last night at 6 o’clock, following a short illness. The funeral will be from the M.S. Bovee Co. chapel at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning, with interment at Newton cemetery.

Mr. Short was born in Charleston, West Virginia, July 15, 1850. In later years he moved to Osceola, Iowa, where he was married in 1880 to Amanda Irwin, who died there in later years.

Four daughters survive Mr. Short. They are Mrs. Garfield Anderson of Platte, S.D., Mrs. R.G. Hamilton, Weippe, Ida.; Mrs. C.L. Skillings and Mrs. Marie Sights, Wren.


Editor’s note: Although the grave marker shows Mr. Short’s birth year as 1859, Oregon State Archives records recorded his date of birth as July 15, 1850 with age at death of 77 years, 3 months and 5 days. This date was also reported in his obituary.
