Mrs. Becca Simpson of Eastern Oregon, sister of the Misses Ella, and Addie Foister of this place (Salem), is lying very low with consumption at the home of her aunt, Mrs. S.K. Brown.
Editor’s note: According to family notes at FindAGrave.com, Rebecca Foister married William Hayes Simpson on Dec. 20, 1881, in Clarke County, Washington, and had one child, David Rice Simpson on Dec. 19, 1882. Her husband died at age 32 on Dec. 27, 1884, of consumption. He is buried at Anderson Lone Fir Cemetery near Sublimity in Marion County. Her parents, Isaac Franklin Foister, and Minerva Francis Crow, are buried in Buena Vista Cemetery in Polk County. It appears that the son she left behind was raised by grandparents in Salem on his father’s side of the family.
