MRS. BAILEY OF BROOK
LANE DIES AT THE AGE
OF FIFTY-EIGHT YEARS

———

Mrs. Victor E. Bailey, who had been ill some time with paralysis agitans and suffered a severe fall a short time ago, died Sunday morning at her home on Brook Lane.

Mrs. Bailey is the mother of Floyd D. Bailey, formerly a member of the Oregon Agricultural College faculty, but now a Guernsey breeder with a farm on Brook Lane. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bailey came out from Wisconsin about a year and a half ago to be near their son, and purchased a home adjoining his on Brook Lane. Since her arrival in Corvallis, Mrs. Bailey had been confined to her home most of the time by the illness that ultimately caused her death, and as a consequence few people in the community had opportunity to know her lovable personality. She was a woman of rare culture, whose fine spiritual nature kept her poised and uncomplaining throughout the long ordeal of her disability. She and her husband are members of the Congregational church.

The funeral will be held from the home on Brook Lane at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. John P. Clyde conducting the religious service and Mr. Bovee directing the ceremony. The burial will be in Mount Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Victor E. Bailey, her son, Floyd E., who with his family is well known here; by a brother, Fred J. Currier of Red Bluff, Cal., a sister, Miss Lillian Currier of River Falls, Wisconsin, and other relatives in Wisconsin. Her husband also has a niece and nephew in Eugene, Dorothy Castelloe and Mark. B. Castelloe.

Mrs. Bailey was about 58 years of age. She was married to Mr. Bailey in River Falls, Wisconsin, where they lived for upwards of twenty years.

Editor’s note: Mrs. Bailey’s death certificate shows her birth as Dec. 6, 1861, which means she was 59 at the time of death, not age 58 as the obituary suggested. Her parents were James K. Currier and Florella S. Locke.
