Little Girl Dies — Luella Lee, nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George O. Lee, died yesterday at the family home at Toledo following a very brief illness from pneumonia. The body is to be brought to the Newton cemetery for interment tomorrow, a short funeral service to be conducted at the graveside at 12 o’clock by Rev. Fred R. Morrow of the local Congregational church. Luella was ill but a day and her sudden and unexpected death came as a shock to the parents. She was the oldest of four children, Olin, Ardella, and George Jr., surviving with the parents. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lee are O.A.C. graduates, and Mrs. Lee was Miss Elmina Atwood, a Corvallis girl. The parents have numerous friends in Corvallis who will grieve with them in their loss.

Editor’s note: Luella was born Jan. 7, 1918, in Skamokawa, Washington, to George Lee and Elmina Atwood. The date of death was Nov. 26, 1926, with the burial at Mount Union Cemetery two days later. According to the girl’s death certificate, the cause of death was double lobar pneumonia. The two newspaper accounts provide different service times (noon and 12:30) and locations (graveside and Plymouth church). Based on vital records, the age in the first story was incorrect — she died less than two months before her ninth birthday.
